Newsletter (June 2): We're Reopening!

Hello Liberty Families,

We have some fantastic news: Liberty Gymnastics is reopening!

Over the past month and a half, we have worked closely with the Contra Costa County Health Department to develop a multi-phased, extremely cautious reopening plan that meets or exceeds all applicable COVID-19 guidelines.

Team Camps resumed in May, Recreational Summer Camp and a Girls Rec 3 Mini-Camp will start June 15, and Preschool Mini-Camps will start July 6. Details for camp programs will be coming soon.

Keeping it Clean

We have implemented a comprehensive set of social distancing and cleanliness protocols to ensure that Liberty Gymnastics remains a safe & healthy space for your child!

We have:

  • Added social distancing marks outside and inside the gym.

  • Installed hand washing/sanitation stations outside the Building A and B entrances.

  • Minimized surface touching opportunities by:

  1. Installing foot-activated openers for the main entrance doors.

  2. Installing tissue dispensers for opening bathroom doors.

  3. Installing touchless bathroom faucets and light switches.

  4. Adding disposable cups to the water filling stations.

  • Installed acrylic cough shields at the Welcome Center.

  • Separated Gym A into four rooms and Gym B into two rooms. One group will use each room at a time, and we will sanitize rooms between uses.

  • Reconfigured gym equipment placement to ensure a minimum of six feet of separation between each apparatus.

  • Assigned a dedicated locker/cubby/storage location for each gymnast to store personal gear to eliminate shared storage and mixing of groups.

  • Installed cleaning stations near each rotation area with hand sanitizer, tissues, gloves, wipes, sprayer and garbage can.

Masks are optional for gymnasts 12 and under. Gymnasts over 12 must wear masks in common areas, but do not need to wear masks while working out.

Class Changes

  • Gymnasts will be assigned to groups of up to 12 (depending on age), with a single coach, and will remain segregated from other groups.

  • Coaches will only train with one group over a four week period to ensure group stability.

  • Gymnasts will wash their hands frequently.

  • A minimum 30-minute break will be scheduled between classes to allow Liberty staff members to clean and sanitize workout areas thoroughly.

  • Camp start and end times will be staggered by at least 15 minutes to help prevent commingling of athletes/campers from different groups.

Improvements to Staff Cleaning Protocol

  • Staff members (and gymnasts) must pass a COVID-19 self-screening test prior to entering the gym.

  • Staff members will wash their hands:

  1. Upon entering the gym

  2. Before each class

  3. During class as necessary

  4. After each class

  • After each class, staff members will clean / disinfect the workout space and all equipment used.

  • Staff members will document each cleaning in newly implemented cleaning logs.

Options for Watching Practice

Parents, we are counting on YOU to help us keep the gym as safe as possible for your children!

We have removed all customer seating and tables, and created two new ways for you to watch practice:

  1. Tune in to Spot TV, an app-based platform that will allow you to watch practice on your mobile devices, from our parking lot... or while parked in your living room! More details on this very exciting development are coming soon. Click here for more info on Spot TV.

  2. Weather permitting, we will open roll-up doors to enable you to view practice from outside the gym. We have installed nylon-mesh half walls at each roll up door to prevent entering or exiting the gym.

We hope you appreciate the extreme care we are taking to adapt to COVID-19, and greatly appreciate your help in making this transition go as smoothly as possible. Our #1 priority is the safety & well-being of you & your children. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the gym!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
