The Liberty Kid Enrichment Center will be offering a pre-kindergarten (ages 4-5) class focused on preparing your little one for a classroom setting while learning key fundamentals in math, literacy, fitness, science, creative arts, and social skills. Thematic lessons will focus around the Rainforest incorporating it into all learning activities. A few of the concepts that will be introduced are:
Schedule: Art ClassesWhile exercise helps brain cell growth, art education compliments this because it promotes more and stronger neural connections. Liberty Gymnastics Training and Enrichment Center is interested giving your child the best opportunity to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. Join us for one of our art classes designed to teach art in the context of history, and encourage creativity. Students will be given instruction in technique, and then allowed to express their unique personalities in their creations. Instructor: Laura Jean Dahl has been an art educator for over 15 years, teaching children from kindergarten through high school. Previous to art education she worked with special needs adults as a staff person and group home manager. Her love of children and education has prompted her to home-school her own children. Laura’s art ranges from photography, quilting, painting, ceramics, sculpture, architecture, and she is learning to knit. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut, and has taught independently run classes in both art and English and art and drama at Wood Rose Academy. 8 weeks, June 25-August 20 (no class July 2) Art Journey Thru HistoryFor grades 4-6 Students will explore a variety of mediums as they try their hands at different kinds of art from cave painting to modern cartoon styles. Each week students will learn about a different era and complete a painting in that style. Types of painting: cave paintings, Egyptian fresco, medieval illuminations, impressionism in the styles of Monet and Van Gogh, potentialism, modernism in the styles of O’Keefe and Lichtenstein. Explorations in ArtFor grades 1-3 Children at this age are still developing their fine motor skills. To encourage creativity and hand coordination we will explore a variety of medium from mixing and forming dough, to cutting, pasting, and painting. Each week we will explore a different medium chosen according to the student’s interests and needs.
Art AdventuresFor special needs children Special needs children have a unique ability to see the world in ways that we don’t often notice. Art is a natural way for them to learn to express themselves; letting their thoughts flow through their actions. Some of my favorite artists have been special needs, and I enjoy giving your child the opportunity to learn new skills. Classes will be structured according to abilities and interest, focusing on painting, sculpture, and creative expression. |
